What is Canvollage
Canvollage is a contemporary artistic technique that expands the possibilities of painting through the integration of painted canvas fragments and hand stitching. By joining fragments of painted canvas into new compositions, Canvollage reveals a new dimension of the painted canvas, where painting, stitching, and textile intervention become part of the same artistic process.
The fragments are not merely materials to be assembled. Each one preserves traces of its pictorial history—its colors, textures, marks, and gestures—while becoming part of a new composition. Through stitching, these fragments are physically and visually connected, allowing the act of joining to become an expressive element of the work itself.
Canvollage extends the traditional understanding of the canvas as a single, fixed surface. Fragmentation becomes not an end, but a means of discovering new possibilities within the painted canvas.
